FAQ

There are many choices and decisions to be made when designing a new website, or redesigning existing one. Many of my clients are overwhelmed by the process and say they’re clueless when it comes to putting together a website. So if that’s how you feel, don’t worry! I’ll guide you through the process and answer any questions you have. To start, The FAQs below will answer some of your initial questions, and help you understand more about the process.

GETTING STARTED

How do we get started?
Simple. Just review the questions on the this page, answer what you can, and then contact me!

How is payment handled?
A 50% deposit is required to get started, with the balance to be paid upon completion. This does not include the domain, hosting, and theme, which need to be purchased first.

How long will it take?
The time depends on a few factors such as my schedule, the size of your project, and how soon you can get me your content. I like to allow a minimum of 3 to 4 weeks.

CONTENT

Will you write the content?
It’s best if the content comes from you, in your own voice. As I add your content to your new website, I’ll share my ideas, based on my experience, with you and make suggestions. If you prefer to have someone write content for you, I can refer you to some very skilled content writers who write for the pet industry.

How many pages can I have?
With WordPress there is no limit to the amount of pages you can have. You can always add more over time as well.

Can I use my own photos?
Yes! If your photos are high quality, it’s best to use yours rather than stock photos.

Can I have videos on my website?
Absolutely. You’ll need to have them hosted on YouTube, Vimeo, or another video hosting website.

Can I have fill-in forms?
Yes. A simple contact form is included. If you’d like more forms, there may be an additional charge.

DOMAIN AND WEBSITE HOSTING

Will you handle the domain registration and hosting set up?
Yes. I can set this up for you. I recommend NameSilo for domain hosting and BigScoots for website hosting.

What if I have an existing website and just want to add a blog?
I can usually add a blog to your existing website without too much difficulty. Please contact me so I can look at your website and give you more specifics.

What if I already have a web host?

Your host will need to support WordPress. If not, I can transfer your website for an additional charge. I recommend BigScoots because of their ease of use, customer service, and cost.

SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION

Is SEO (Search Engine Optimization) included?
Yes, basic SEO is included, but keep in mind SEO goes hand-in-hand with your SMO (Social Media Optimization) and needs to be done on an ongoing basis.

Can we add widgets, badges or gadgets for twitter, facebook, etc…
Yes. I’ll be happy to add these to your website.

Will I be able to make changes myself?
Yes. That’s the beauty of using WordPress. You will be able to login to your website and make changes online. I am available to make changes for you though if you prefer not to make changes yourself. (my hourly fee will apply)

OTHER QUESTIONS

How soon will my website show up on Google?
It can take a few days to a few months for your website to be indexed by Google. This is something I do not have any control over – it’s a Google thing. And, although I have had great success in getting my clients’ websites to rank well, I do not guarantee your website will show up on the first page of Google (or any other search engine). If anyone makes such a guarantee, you should run the other way.

What if I have follow up questions?
I’ll be happy to answer a few short questions after the package is complete. If, after that, you would like additional help, I’m available at my hourly fee.

Can you help set up accounts and profiles on Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin, etc..
Yes. Just let me know what you need.
